Ray Davies at The Wiltern July 21, 2012

Opening band was The 88 and front man Keith Slettedahl is so much fun to watch. He plays a big guitar and wears glasses and has a way of standing kind of sideways to the mic and does all these kicks and slides and things with his legs and feet. Loved his voice. Need to download some of their stuff. Keyboardist Adam Merrin sits hunched over his keyboard and really gets into it, doing bicycle maneuvers with his legs and stuff. Lots of energy in those guys.

Ray Davies came out and sat on the stage with another guitarist, Bill Shanley. They did several acoustic-style numbers and then it was time for the full band, which ended up being the guys from The 88!!!!! I didn’t even realize until they were almost through the first song and then I’m like HEY!

Setlist is from this OC Register article.

I’m personally not a fan of the song Lola, but I’m curious to know why he didn’t play it.

I liked all the other songs. Really good show!
